Cement Hill Housing Development (Lorenzin site)
The Cement Hill Development Dec 2018 update:
We have kept in touch with both Councils and our local State MP to try to make sense of what has and hasn't been happening. Some good people have been making real effort without too much in return that is to be shared in the public realm!
Short term : The site continues to look terrible with only ragged remnants of a fence, which does not offer any security or reflect on the level of care by the sites owner; despite their investment in site clearance and pre-work. still a Public relations mystery? The winter rains have assisted potential stabalisation of the site via weed growth, but it remains to be seen how effective nature is this summer?
Long Term: Discussions continue on the realignment of councils boundaries for the site. The majority of which falls into Marion Council with a small part ( Scholefield Road)in Holdfast Bay. lets hope this is resolved soon.
The overall development design and plans are a closed shop and the business of the private developer.
However .....Merry Christmas !!! ...........Approvals and agreement is in place between Gasparin (Developer) and Boral to construct the new Haul Road for the Linwood Quarry in the second half of 2019. The road will run through the Quarry up to the Majors Road Lonsdale Highway junction. Diverting heavy vehicles away from Ocean Boulevard /Brighton Road and the residential area.
This is a significant milestone which should trigger the next phase of the development process:
Dec 2018 -The current City of Marion's online public information on the redevelopment is updated however it doesn't have much content.
