Cement Hill Housing Development (Lorenzin site)
The Cement Hill Development March 2019 update:
We have kept in touch with both Councils and our local State MP to try to make sense of what has and hasn't been happening. Some good people have been making real effort without too much in return that is to be shared in the public realm!
The overall development design and plans are a closed shop and the business of the private developer. However the Association has written to the Developer again to develop a productive relationship with them as they will be a significant part of our community for years to come. See link
We note that the site fencing was tidied up in December last year and the site security improved somewhat, along with some clearing of weeds. Whilst welcomed, it still does not present yet as an exciting major development site, nor address concerns over security or appearance.
We also understand that the DPA process for the re-zoning has been extended for another 12 months and that the Public consultation will be re-commencing this year.
December 2018 - agreement is in place between the Developer and Boral to construct the new Haul Road for the Linwood Quarry in the second half of 2019. The road will run through the Quarry up to the Majors Road Lonsdale Highway junction. Diverting heavy vehicles away from Ocean Boulevard /Brighton Road and the residential area.
Discussions continue on the realignment of councils boundaries for the site, so that it fall in one council area. The majority of which falls into Marion Council with a small part ( Scholefield Road)in Holdfast Bay. Lets hope this is resolved soon. See link to Marion Council resolution
We are hopeful that very soon patience will pay off and the activity and level of sharing by the developer will increase as the roadblocks are removed
