Cement Hill Housing Development (Lorenzin site)
The Cement Hill Development July 2018 update:
Councilor Tim Gard has written to the local member and Minister for the Environment David Speirs to seek his assistance in answering the environmental question regarding the air borne dust and whether it is a risk to health? Both Council and the Minister have confirmed that the EPA were monitoring the site and there have been no breaches.
The winter rains have assisted potential stabalisation via weed growth, but it remains to be seen how effective nature is ?
Anecdotally residents have suffered from the dust, and are frustrated by the public eyesore at the entrance to our area. The lack of official complaints by the public could leave us to believe that either there are no real concerns or people see no point, as Council and State Government seem powerless to do anything. We will continue to pursue this matter.
According to Marion Council the developer continues to state that they are acting in good faith having undertaken the current works without any real commitment.....we wonder why they have bothered as it was at least stable before. Now it is far from stable and even less attractive?? There has been minor on site activity on site recently...no idea what the plan is?
The process as we understand it:
Marion Council are preparing a still preparing ‘relationship and communications strategy’ ( since Jan 2018) for the development. The MRA will continue to monitor progress and will ensure that we keep you updated on the next steps and opportunities to input into the consultation process. They hope to be able to share more information as soon as the Developer provides an update.
March 2018 -The current City of Marion's online public information on the redevelopment is now 4 month old

In essence the message from all is the same, please respect us, trust us to listen and if the dialogue is reasonable, then we may be able to help everyone understand what is planned as we advocate for improvements...not hard I hear you say!!
The 5049 CC is happy for you to copy us in on any issues via email and Facebook.
