The City of Holdfast Bay Environment Strategy was approved in March 2020. It uses strong and powerful language regarding the need for urgent, community wide action in order to reduce climate emissions and create a truly environmentally sustainable future (both locally and globally). The phrase "towards and beyond environmental sustainability" was apt.
Hooded Plovers are Australia’s most endangered shorebird with only 7000 in Australia and less than 800 in South Australia. Since 2016, a pair of hoodies has nested at Seacliff and has successfully fledged 5 chicks in 4 seasons, one of the most successful breeding records.
The 5049 Environmental Task group have been reviewing the potential impacts of the proposed 5G rollout in Australia. There are many differing views on this matter. However we are aware of some concerns in the community as to date it is understood that there have been no Australian Government led safety studies or plans to do any. We thought we would share our findings and see if the community has views on this matter. For those who would like to know more or be involved in a small subgroup on 5G read on.
The City of Holdfast Bay is developing an Environment Strategy to provide a roadmap for Council’s environmental initiatives and projects over the next five years, and want to hear from the Community.
