March 2019 update Local support and enthusiasm has delivered some momentum towards regenerating our environment. As a response to the Petition about the Robertson/Rockford Park, The Marion Council will commence some minor upgrade of the park. Two dead tress were taken out and mulched on site. The mulch was then spread out in readiness for the planting. That is efficient with a low carbon footprint.
On July 12 2018 Peter Hoskin brought together several locals on a beautiful crisp morning to assist council with planting the first section of local indigenous plants around the perimeter. Council were impressed with the turnout and the fact that with pre-drilled holes over 300 plants were all lovingly planted in less than an hour! We have a great beginning through advocacy and collboration, we hope for more development in the future. The plants are looking healthy and have been given extra water by locals over the hot summer. As a result of this success the City Of Marion are proposing more plantings to further enhance the greening of the reserve .
